Environmental & Ecotoxicology Calculators

Environmental & Ecotoxicology Calculators

Environmental & Ecotoxicology Calculators

These interactive Environmental & Ecotoxicology calculators help students, researchers, and environmental professionals quickly estimate critical parameters such as pollutant concentrations, bioavailability, risk quotients, biodegradation rates, and water body dilution factors. Streamline calculations for lab experiments, field studies, and environmental risk assessments.

Use these tools to model environmental fate, predict ecotoxicological exposure, and assess potential risks in soils, water, and populations. Calculations are based on standard formulas and simplified assumptions to provide rapid, educational estimates for planning and analysis.

⚠ Disclaimer: These calculators are intended for educational and planning purposes only. They use simplified formulas and assumptions, and should not replace laboratory experiments, field measurements, or professional environmental assessments.

1. LC50 → Water concentration (est.)

Approximate: concentration (mg/L) = (LC₅₀ × organism mass) / water volume

2. Dissolved Oxygen (DO) Depletion

Final DO = initial − rate × time (not modelling reaeration)

3. Soil Bioavailability Fraction (approx.)

Estimate: f_pw ≈ 1 / (1 + Koc × f_oc × 0.35). Very approximate.

4. Pollutant Half-life ↔ k

t½ = ln(2)/k. Enter k or t½ to calculate the other.

5. Partition Coefficient (Kd)

Kd ≈ Koc × f_oc (L/kg)

6. Emission Flux → Steady Conc (box)

Steady C ≈ flux / (volume × removal rate). Requires removal rate > 0.

7. Dilution Factor (receiving water)

Dilution = (Q_discharge + Q_receiving) / Q_discharge

8. Biodegradation Rate Constant (k)

k = ln(2)/t½ (per day)

9. Risk Quotient (PEC / PNEC)

RQ = PEC / PNEC; RQ > 1 indicates potential risk (screening).

10. Population Exposure Estimate

Per-person daily dose = conc × intake. Population total = per-person × population.
